Nusa Dua Fiesta 2008, a green tourism celebration



This year, Bali Tourism Development Corporation (BTDC) perform again the annual event Nusa Dua Fiesta 2008 which will be held for 5 days at Peninsula island, Nusa Dua from 10 to 14 October 2008.

The even this year is carrying theme " green tourism ", for supporting sustainable environment for continuity of tourism in Bali. The 5 days celebration will take place in Peninsula, a tiny island in Nusa Dua which is has uniqueness called "Water Blow", 20 metres height of splashing waves that hits reef. The celebration provides performance of culture, art, sport, music, exhibition and games which includes the participants from other Indonesia's provinces. As the thems is Green Tourism, this year celebration will conducting Environment Care Programme which contain Green Camp (plastic waste collecting and environment socialization in schools along Nusa Dua area ).

Assesment survey on cultural tourism impacts on urban development in Bali

Bali wins 'The Best Island in Asia Pacific" and "Best Exotic Destination"

Bali once again wins "The Best Island in Asia Pacific" and also eligible to recieve DestinAsian Award 2008. The award was through Readers Choice programe on DestinAsian Magazine; a traveler magazine published in Asia and partly Europe. In 2006, Bali was also win the same award.

Mr.Gde Nurjaya, said up to now, Bali has received 20 awards from many institutions from around the world. Last January 2008, Bali was also received an appreciation as "The Best Exotic Destination" from Luxury Travel Magazine, London. Luxury Travel Magazine is a monthly magazine thats provides analysis and expert information on world tourism to both consumers and tourism operators,with readers up to 2.5 millions worldwide.

The January 2008 edition of Luxury Travel Magazine the magazine`s readers picked Bali Island as the Best Exotic Destination, beats other nominated destinations including Mauritius and Thailand Golden.

World 'Wayang' Show on Bali Art Festival 2008

The 30th Bali Art Festival will be held on June 14 to July 12 2008. It is been said, the World 'Wayang' show will highlight the Bali Art Festival.

Wayang which means 'shadow' is a shadow puppets performance prevalent in Java and Bali, Indonesia. The stories are usually about Ramayana and Mahabrata epic. Various style of Wayang are known in Indonesia; Wayang Kulit, Wayang Wong, Wayang Golek, Wayang Beber etc.

For the first time, Bali Art Festival will held the World Wayang Show. "The positive response from overseas art workers has been given to the international wayang show which is to be the first of its kind in the Bali Art Festival", Mr. Made Santha , a Cultural Service Spokesman , said.

He added that a tleast five countries had confirmed their participation in this World Wayang Show to highlight Bali Art Festival. He said the participation of international asrtist in Bali Art Festival would hasve significant meaning for Balinese traditional art and cultural development. The show is also expected to improve the image of Bali in supporting Visit Indonesia Year 2008 a success.

The Bali Arts Festival is an annual full month of daily performances,
handicraft exhibitions and other related of cultural and commercial
activities such as dances, theater, foods festival, traditional costumes etc. The participant are also come from other part of Indonesia such as Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Papua as well as foreign country such as Japan, Korea etc.
